Real Wedding: Mallory and Jake Planck

No comments:
Mallory and Jake met at Ohio University, in Athens, Ohio, when a mutual friend introduced them at one of the campus' many happy hours. Jake walked Mallory back to her sorority house and asked her to a movie the next day, but nothing became official until a year later - in the spring of 2008 - and they have been together ever since! After graduation they dated long distance for a year until they moved across the country together to embark on a Southern California adventure for Jake’s job. After two years there, Jake received another promotion moving the pair back to Chicago, where they have been for nearly three years.

In 2013, Mallory’s sister Megan surprised the family with a weekend trip to New York City for Christmas. Little did Mallory know, the planning had already begun for Jake to make her his wife. As they explored NYC, they made their way to Central Park where Jake got down on one knee with Mallory’s family watching. He thanked her for the adventures they had already had together, and asked her to experience every adventure together for the rest of their lives.

They said their “I Dos” at Acquaviva Winery in Maple Park, IL with their loved ones sipping wine in the vineyard and witnessing them promise to be each other’s forever. The couple chose Acquaviva because it was such a unique venue! Living in Chicago, there were obviously a lot of urban options for our wedding venue, but Jake and Mallory liked the idea of the vineyard -- combining their love of wine with the unique, vintage feel. Says Mallory, "We also loved that it was a family-owned business, so we knew there were going to be details that everyone paid attention to and we were going to be treated like family on our special day."

Their vision for our day was intimate, unique and unforgettable. "We loved that we were able to serve Acquaviva wine to our guests while they sat in the vineyard for our ceremony. And anyone who knows us knows that pizza and wine is our favorite meal, so serving the late-night wood-fired pizzas was an additional bonus for our guests that was very 'us.'"

The happy couple explains, "Between the amazing weather, the amazing staff and venue, we would not have changed anything about our day. Four months later we still talk about it constantly and would relive the day over and over if we could!"
