GUEST POST BY WILL KNIGHT, OWNER/PHOTOGRAPHER OF WILL KNIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY LLC

Wedding photography is all about capturing the detail of the day – from the intimate smiles exchanged by the bride and groom in those rare moments when nobody is looking, to the myriad of intricate touches that the happy couple have planned as part of their wedding.

Photographing the details is part of the joy of the wedding photographer’s role. The couple has planned every last element of their wedding day carefully, from the favors given to guests, to the size and shape of the bride’s earrings. The photographer’s job is to capture it all in the couple’s preferred photographic style, which can range from classic, formal shots to more modern, journalistic-style images.

It’s a job that requires a real instinct for how to frame the perfect image, along with a lot of experience of photographing weddings and other events. When captured perfectly, many couples find that the photographs of the final details end up being some of their favourite shots of the day. From the bride’s shoes to the flower in the groom’s buttonhole, it is those little, personalized treasures that combine to make each wedding day so unique – and it is the wedding photographer’s job to capture them with absolute perfection.

Thank you so much to Will Knight for his advice on wedding photography and finding the details of the day! Will Knight is a specialist in wedding and event photography based in Chicago. GUEST POST BY AMANDA LIBERATORE, GEORGE STREET PHOTO & VIDEO

Once the cake is boxed up, the flowers are pressed and you’re starting to settle into your new digs as a married couple, you’ll probably forget the hours you spent hovered over your wedding guest list, making sure every detail is accounted for. Or the countless trips to the caterer, ensuring your reception menu is in tip-top shape.

But, the wedding highlights you will remember? Those are the moments that tell the story of your love and reflect the magic of your day. Here are the shots that are guaranteed to hold a special place in your wedding album — and your heart!

You May Now Kiss the Bride... By far, this goes down as one of the most breathtaking moments of any wedding ceremony! The first kiss you share as a married pair is one you’ll always remember — and relive time and time again through your photos!

Your Guys & Gals: Through it all, the members of your wedding party will play an essential role in your day, standing by your side and supporting you as you say ‘I do’ to the love of your life! Showcase the close bond you all share with personalized props or fun poses!

Through the Generations: A shot that’s starting to gain popularity among so many brides and grooms is the “generational photo.” Whether it’s a moment shared between you, your mother and your grandmother, or your groom’s father and grandfather, this is one of the best ways to show how these treasured loved ones have shaped your life and relationship with your spouse!

Beautiful Blooms: Sweet peonies, elegant roses...whatever blooms make up your bridal bouquet, a shot of your flowers will add just the right amount of pop to your wedding album! The vibrant colors, combined with the uniqueness of each bloom, are just a few of the factors that make bouquet shots visually captivating from a photography standpoint.

Sweet Details: You’ve likely spent dozens of hours perfecting your wedding decor and details — from your centerpieces down to your guests’ wedding favors. So, why let your hard work go to waste? With photo documentation, you’ll be able to reflect on the small, albeit important, details that made your day so special.

The most beautiful wedding moments often transpire when you, the bride-to-be, is swept up in the emotion of the day — when you’re truly enjoying yourself and making memories with your loved ones. So, let go and let your photographer work their magic! The result is likely to be unforgettable!

"Anthony and I met through a mutual group of friends during the summer of 2009. We hung out in the same group, but we really didn't know each other very well. At the end of that summer, I needed a date to a wedding and decided to ask Anthony. We went to the wedding as friends and never thought it would progress into anything further. Three years later, we got engaged in front of the prettiest view of the Chicago skyline at the top of the Children’s Memorial parking garage in Lincoln Park.

"Our wedding day was perfect! We had perfect weather as we got married on the PGA grove at Medinah Country Club underneath an elaborate arch designed by my mom. After the ceremony, we moved into the Clubhouse, which we decorated in a vintage theme dressed with dusty rose, navy blue, lace and puffs of baby’s breath. We wanted our guests to enjoy the beauty of Medinah, so we opened up the patio where the men had a celebratory cigar together. We also set up a popcorn bar and cupcake tower for everyone to enjoy. It was the perfect start to our happy ending with all of our favorite people!" --Felicia

GUEST POST BY Kat Maj, Regional Ortanic Coordinator

It’s your big day. You've been waiting for this moment for your entire life. Do you really want your wedding photos to not come out perfect? We didn't think so. We all feel a little better with a healthy glow, and our wedding day is no exception. Also keep in mind that professional photos often make you appear a shade or two lighter, and getting some extra color will help your natural wedding glow radiate more noticeably through your skin.

So, you want to that perfect glow but don’t want to risk your skin’s health. Look no further than a custom airbrush tan.

Airbrush tans are the healthiest and safest way to tan while avoiding the dangers of UV sunrays. Airbrush tans also help you look 5-10 pounds thinner and more toned, reduce the appearance of skin imperfections, and make your teeth look whiter and your eyes look brighter. Perfect for amazing wedding day photos!

Here’s what to keep in mind to make sure your skin looks nothing short of flawless on your wedding day:

1. Book a trial appointment. To ensure you find the right shade and airbrush formula for your skin, book a trial appointment to test out the waters. If you want to do 2 trial tans before your wedding, book the first 4 weeks from your wedding day.

2. Exfoliate. Exfoliate at least two times per week. Exfoliating gets rid of dead skin cells that can keep you from having an even tone to your airbrush tan. Make sure not to exfoliate after you receive your airbrush tan for a period of 5-7 days so you can see how your tan looks on you. If you want to make sure your skin is exfoliated perfectly the week of your wedding, we recommend that you get a professional exfoliation done at a local spa. This will guarantee you that your skin is smooth, even, and glowing from head to toe.

3. Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize. Healthy and hydrated skin holds a sunless tan much longer, and the color is much richer and more vibrant. Avoid lotions that contain alcohol or anti-aging ingredients, as they tend to dry out your skin. Make sure not to use lotion on the day of your tan. We recommend that you moisturize at least two times per day, once in the morning right after you shower and again before you go to sleep at night.

4. Drink lots of water. Great skin always starts from within, and having your body properly hydrated is important to having great skin and overall great health. Most of us, with our busy lifestyles, do not properly hydrate our body every day. The recommended amount from the Institute of Medicine is at least 8-10 glasses of water a day.

5. Exercise 4-5 times per week for at least 30 minutes. Stress wreaks havoc on your skin and exercise lowers the cortisol levels in your body to help lower stress.

By following these 5 easy tips, rest assured that your spray-tanned skin will look as great as you feel on your wedding day.

Thanks to Ortanic for these wonderful tips! Click to book an airbrush tan today or feel free to contact Ortanic with any questions -- they have licensed estheticians on staff waiting to help. Be sure to check out their web-series the Ortanic Diaires!
