Real Wedding: Kristina Ethier and Sim Canelo

Kristina and Sim were getting ready to settle in one winter night, when Sim told Kristina he wanted to go for a drive. Sim and Kristina drove through downtown and parked on what seemed like a random side street. She asked where exactly they were going and he told her, “Nowhere in particular, just thought we’d walk for a bit.”

At this point, Kristina's sister called, but her phone died almost immediately. As she reached for Sim’s pocket to borrow his, he jerked back. Quickly, he handed her his phone and she resumed chatting with her sister. As they neared the Old Water Tower, they started to walk under the canopy of Christmas lights. Suddenly, Sim got down on one knee and popped the question.

Sim, still on one knee, waiting what seemed like an eternity, was looking up at her wondering what she was waiting for. She was so overcome with emotions she couldn’t speak. Then finally, she close the phone, kissed him, and said, “Yes, absolutely yes!”

They planned the entire wedding together. With a wedding date to just shy of five months from the day they were engaged, they had to make decisions (and some compromises) quickly. In the end, it truly reflected their personalities and style.

On the day of the wedding, Kristina was all smiles. The weather was incredible that day, and even though it was a warm spring day, the temperature was perfect with a slight breeze. The ceremony was beautiful and Pastor Doug Thiesen really made the couple feel special and embraced.

The Jazz room at Franchesco's Ristorante really created the “Chicago feel” the couple was looking for. With black linens and candles everywhere, it felt very cozy and romantic. After having an exquisite dinner, the party began! Kristina and Sim barely stopped dancing the entire night. The day was full of fond memories they will cherish forever!
